Westside Women's Care is pleased to announce that Dr Crawford, senior partner at WWC, was nominated for the second year in a row as one of the "TOP DOCTORS IN DENVER" by 5280 magazine for her expertise in the OB/GYN category!. The magazine, 5280, has surveyed doctors and asked them, specialty by specialty, which metro-area physicians they would trust to treat themselves and their families. In addition to providing compassionate OB/GYN care Dr Crawford is certified in the latest Da Vinci robotic surgery techniques utilizing minimally-invasive surgery technologies. Dr Crawford recently attended a masters training course in Da Vinci techniques. To be eligible to attend this course a surgeon must have completed a certain number of Da Vinci surgeries. Dr Crawford has been pleased with the clinical results of the Da Vinci techniques and her patients are thrilled with the benefits of using the robotic techniques! Robot-assisted surgery with the da Vinci^® Surgical System is a very effective, treatment performed though tiny, 1-2 cm incisions. Surgeons using the da Vinci System* can operate with greater precision and control, minimizing the pain and risk associated with large incisions while increasing the likelihood of a fast recovery and excellent clinical outcomes. September 18, 2011 FLU SHOTS

We are offering flu shots to our patients. The cost will be $25.00. If you have insurance coverage for the flu shot we will submit the claim for you. It is recommended by the CDC for pregnant patients to get the flu shot. It is not recommended for pregnant women to get the Flu Mist. Below is a summary of this year's flu guidelines from the Center for Disease Control:

* The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older receive the influenza vaccine every year.

* Vaccine Strains for the 2011--12 Influenza Season
The 2011--12 U.S. seasonal influenza vaccine virus strains are identical to those contained in the 2010--11 vaccine. These include A/California/7/2009 (h2N1)-like, A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2)-like, and B/Brisbane/60/2008-like antigens. The influenza A (h2N1) vaccine virus strain is derived from a 2009 pandemic influenza A (h2N1) virus (3).

Jefferson County Health Department offers flu shots by appointment and they have set days for flu shots. Follow the link above or call your local health department for more information on dates and times. If you have Medicaid or CHP+ insurance you will need to get your flu shot at your local health department.
